I had such an amazing time in Florida. We went to all the Disney Parks, Water Parks and Universal both a little kids and big kids dream! The weather was extremely hot generally 35 degrees and sometimes hit 38 degrees. I didn’t BURN whooooo, my Irish skin was able to deal with it although I have about a million freckles!
Not to be stereotypical but we were so shocked by the amount of obesity in Florida. They have been saying in the papers how Ireland and the UK are on the brink of an obesity epidemic and seeing what I saw on holidays frightens me massively. I really hope both governments take on this problem with 100% commitment.
Sounds extreme but it would actually put you off eating any treats( excuse my french) for life! We stayed relatively healthy while we were away but of course enjoyed some treats (it was a holiday after all!)
Packed lunches were key to our days out in the Disney Parks. Beef jerky , protein jellies ( which btw are coming to the UK very soon) and Quest bars were my life savers. I done a massive haul in GNC before I left.
If you follow my Instagram account you would have seen that I bought a fit bit while I was there.
So I’m a little disappointed to be honest (I might have been a little bit over optimistic).
The negatives for me…
– It’s accuracy is very poor for running. I went for a run with my garmin and fit bit just to see if there was a difference. I went for 10km and it was showing as just under 8km.
– In order to track your sleep you have to tap the little screen twice. I swear to god I must have tapped it about 30 times before it vibrated to acknowledge I was going to sleep.
– When I woke up, although I hadn’t got up during the night and taken no steps ( to my knowledge – I’m pretty sure I don’t sleep walk. I do laugh and talk though!) I had burnt 500 calories. The flex fit bit doesn’t have a heart rate monitor so I have no idea how it came up with this.
– It says that the battery lasts up to 5 days…rubbish! I don’t know if that depends how active you are but mine lasts 2 days maximum.
This Fit Bit is really just for tracking walking and you need to make sure that it is on your non dominant wrist loosely. If it’s too tight on your wrist it won’t pick up your steps. The fit bit is water-resistant so you can wear it in the shower and it’s fine if it gets wet in the rain, but don’t wear it if you are going swimming.
In all if you are looking to just track your walking then it is a purchase you might want to consider but really if you have an Iphone 5 or higher the health app that is included monitors steps just as good.
Lots of Love
