Paris Half Marathon and This Weeks Buys!

ALLEZ LES VERTS. Seriously proud to be Irish right now.  Anyone else lose all their nails through that match?

I have been super busy recently so I haven’t been able to update my blog in the last two weeks so I’m really sorry.  However I have good news and bad news. Bad news, I didn’t get a place in the London Marathon but the good news is that I have signed up with 2 of my best friends to do the Paris half marathon in March. I cannot wait! Heres to carb loading 🙂

Below are my top 3 favourite purchases at the moment.

  1. Quest Pumpkin Pie Protein Bar

OMG when I found out there was a new bar coming I was literally so excited. Then when I found out it was pumpkin pie it was a whole other level of excitement. similarly don’t like when I hear limited edition because naturally I’m a very impatient person so this made me even worse.

Thankfully I managed to get my hands on a box and was 100% satisfied. The bar is sweeter than normal with a buttery graham cracker coating. It’s moist and there is such a nice kick of cinnamon in there.  I really love the fact they have coated the bars and hope they continue to do so.

The macros are a little higher than other quest bars so I wouldn’t necessarily have one every day but they are definitely worth a treat for Halloween! #GetPumpkin

2. Special K Super Porridge

I think I have tried nearly every flavour of Quaker Oats so I wanted to try something different. As I pottered about in the cereal aisle of Sainsbury’s I spotted Special K Super Porridge. I don’t like Special K cereal mainly because it doesn’t fill me up but given that this was porridge and I could add protein to it I decided to give a go.


The macros are great and similar to Quaker Oats. What I particularly liked about it is that it’s creamy, something I can never quite master all the time with porridge, but seemed to come naturally when I made this.

The seeds, pomegranate and raspberry give it a nice kick without being too overbearing. I know having tried some cereals before with dried raspberry it can sometimes taste extremely chemically. I have to say Special K have nailed it this time round.

3. Powerbar Protein Plus Vanilla Coconut

img_2085I have mentionned this bar on my Instagram before but the reason I am listing it this week is because Holland and Barrett have an unreal promotion at the moment. They are only 99p a bar. THIS NEVER HAPPENS.

I LOVE these bars, particulary Vanilla Coconut. If you are a fan of Milky bar I can guarantee you will thank me. Macros are good, 191 calories a bar with 17.3g of protein. Sugar is a little on the high side at 19.5g but my god its so worth it. STOCK UP. I cleared out my nearest Holland and Barrett today!
