Aside from food and running related questions, one of my most asked questions is how do I keep my teeth so white.
I love teeth, in-fact I’m obsessed with teeth. Since I was a teeny tot my mum always made sure that we had our regular check-ups with the dentist and reminded us ( very frequently) how important it was to look after our teeth. Safe to say it has stuck with me and I never go a night without brushing or flossing my teeth ( well when I’m not drunk anyway, I swear I’m not holding a bellini cocktail).
I’ve been whitening my teeth since I was about 18. I was over in America visiting relatives and my cousin introduced me to Crest Whitening Strips. At the time they were impossible to find in Europe (unless you were willing to pay for ridiculous shipping fees). My cousins’ teeth were amazing, so I stocked up while I was there and then anytime they were coming home they could abring me some over. Nowadays you can get them on Amazon and Ebay easy.
I literally could not believe the difference they made within a month. I started off using them every second day for two weeks. Gradually I reduced the number of times per month once I got them to a colour I was happy with. Now it’s just about maintaining the colour so I use them once a month if even, sometimes once every 3 months. The best time to wear them is before you go to bed, half an hour (max), otherwise you might experience pain.
If you have sensitive teeth in general, I wouldn’t recommend them as I’ve read that they can irritate the gums and make your sensitivity worse. If you’re unsure just consult your dentist who will be best placed to give you the right advice. Lucky for me I’ve never had that problem so I’ve been able to continue to use them.
At the end of the day though it does come back to basics, brushing your teeth, flossing and reducing sugar intake all contribute to a healthy and happy smile. I do think my high consumption of milk has also contributed…those bones, those bones need calcium….. ( you know where I’m going)
I hope this answers a lot of your questions, if not feel free to comment below or get in touch with me directly.
