Most people see me as a super healthy person, which to be fair I probably am but I do have my unhealthy weaknesses. One of which is Pepsi Max. For probably the last year and a half my love for Pepsi Max has intensified at an extremely unhealthy rate. To the point where I was having…
- Heart palpitations
- Incredibly painful stomach pains
Also WASTING waaaay too much money!
For months I knew what was causing the above but every time I tried to give it up, either some form of stress would trigger me and/or my cravings were too much. I NOW UNDERSTAND WHAT IT MUST BE LIKE TO BE A SMOKER. I couldn’t understand for the life of me why if I had the determination to run marathons, get up at ridiculous o clock every morning for training, HOW could NOT give up Pepsi Max. It was really bothering me.
So I started my research, however, a lot of tips and tricks I had already tried eg suggestions of swapping for sparkling water and squash, not having it in the house, telling everyone you had given it up (so in a way to shame yourself if they saw you), but quite frankly nobody gives a shit!
THEN I stumbled upon Hypnosis as a solution. Immediately, I thought of Derren Brown and was like uummmm I’m not sure about this. However I continued my conversations with a lot of random people ( very helpful people at that) on forums who convinced me it wasn’t like THAT at all.
I had a number of conversations with Hypnotherapists in London, which I advise you to do if it’s something you would consider. It is important that you feel comfortable with them. I had a really great chat with Aaron @CityHypnosis when we had an initial consultation. He had previous clients who had similar addictions and achieved a very high success rate.
So what actually happens in Hypnosis?
It’s like meditation. You remain completely conscious and in control – he isn’t going to click his fingers and you turn into a different person!
I had 3 sessions (45mins each for 3 weeks) which involved us essentially meditating (my description!). The idea is that you become so relaxed (usually 3/4 way through the session) your subconscious is open to receiving new information. It was then that Aaron included a number of affirmations associated with removing Pepsi Max from my life (it sounds hilarious writing this!).
I can confidently and proudly say I haven’t touched, nor had ANY cravings for Pepsi max in 7 weeks and 4 days ( yes I am keeping track). I genuinely can’t believe it, I thought I was a lost cause.
There are so many things hypnosis can help with, not just addictions.
- Nail biting
- Procrastination ( I should go back for this…)
- Public speaking etc
Of course your subconscious can change over time and you could slip back into your old ways. However, Aaron provides you with an audio download that you can listen to once every couple of weeks. This is basically just to keep telling your subconscious that you don’t need that poison in your life! I listen to it before I go to bed and it’s super relaxing. Win, Win.
I think I have covered everything, however, If you have any questions about this, feel free to message me or get in touch with Aaron. I CAN’T recommend him enough.
